Why should I filter my water?
We believe, and scientific research shows, that to filter your water has significant health benefits through the removal of chemicals, herbicides, pesticides, heavy metals, bacteria and other contaminants.
What is the best filter for municipally treated town water supply?
This will depend on the quality of your town water source and the type of filter cartridge you wish to have, this may be an inline filter or a carbon block cartridge that sits inside a housing. We recommend you visit our online store or contact us to discuss your particular water filtration needs.
What filtration would I require for rural water supply?
This will depend on your water source. For Bore water, we require a water test to establish the water quality and to identify any issues with the Bore water supply. Based on the results of this test, we then make a recommendation to address any water quality issues and provide a quote for the cost to do this. However, for Rainwater/Tank and Stream water, we generally do not require a water test. For Rainwater, we recommend a whole house filtration system that removes sediment and kills viruses and bacteria through Ultraviolet Sterilisation.
What exciting new product lines is Purewater Products promoting?
Currently, our new range of filtration products provides customers with exciting new filtration options. These include our bath and shower dechlorinating filters, the inline alkaline filter and our four stage reverse osmosis Purotwist 4000 system.
How can I remove chlorine, and the tastes and odours from my drinking water?
On town/city treated water supply you require a carbon filter to remove the chlorine, chemicals, herbicides, pesticides, tastes and odours. We have a range of options here, from an inline filter to a solid carbon block cartridge.
Can you remove the chlorine from my shower water?
Yes we have introduced a shower filter that removes the chlorine from your shower water giving you a healthier "lighter" feeling shower which is better for both your hair and skin. It is also a great option for those who suffer from exzema or other skin conditions as chlorine tends to inflame these skin problems.
What is the purest form of water filtration I can obtain?
If you wish to remove almost all the harmful contaminants from your water, then we offer two products that can achieve this. The first is our Water Distiller which removes all impurities from your water supply. It sits on top of the bench and produces 4 litres in 5-6 hours. The second is an underbench 4 stage reverse osmosis system, the Purotwist 4000, that removes 98-99% of all contaminents from the water supply.
How can I remove Giardia from my drinking water?
Giardia and Cryptosporidium can be filtered out of your water using a 1 micron or smaller water filter. This removes both contaminants because there cysts are larger than 1 micron and so are unable to pentrate through the filter at 1 micron.
Do you carry or can you get other brand filters?
We carry a large range of filters to fit most popular brands. Just contact us and if we don't have it, we may be able to get it for you.
My water is causing brown staining of my whiteware (bath, sinks etc.). How can I resolve this problem?
It is likely your water has a high iron content and requires treatment to remove the iron. We would recommend an iron removal system be placed on the main water line to the house to treat all the water entering the house. The type of system used will depend on several factors including your overall water quality. Contact us to discuss treatment options if you have a high iron level in your water source.
My water has been leaving blue/green stains. How can I solve this problem?
Green or blue staining in the house generally indicates your water supply has a low pH resulting in acidic water. This acidic water "eats" away at your copper pipes, damaging your pipe work and causing a residual blue/green staining. The only way to resolve this problem is to install a neutralizer on the main water line to the house which will raise the pH of your water.
I just installed a new filter cartridge in my kitchen and have fine black fragments coming through the water?
After installing a new filter, we always recommend you run the filter tap for a few minutes. This flushes the filter and insures any fine carbon fragments are flushed through before drinking the water.
